Chorus Limited announces new Board chair and CFO resignation

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: The Chorus Limited Board introduced that present director Mark Cross will succeed Dr Patrick Strange as chairman when Dr Strange stands down at Chorus’ subsequent annual shareholders assembly in October.

Chorus is a supplier of telecommunications infrastructure all through New Zealand. It is listed on the NZX inventory exchange and is within the NZX 50 Index. It is the proprietor of the bulk of phone lines and exchange equipment in New Zealand.

“Mark has been a Board member since November 2016 and is currently chair of Chorus’ Audit and Risk Management Committee. His extensive expertise in strategic governance, technology and company finance has been a nice asset given a few of the challenges we’ve wanted to navigate as we funded the constructing of the fibre community whereas awaiting the brand new regulatory framework.”

“I’m actually happy to be handing over to somebody with a strong understanding of our role as an important infrastructure supplier and the balance wanted to encourage ongoing funding that will ship future consumer benefits,” Dr Strange said.

Mr Cross is currently chair of Milford Asset Management (retiring 1 July) and a director of the Accident Compensation Corporation (and Investment Committee chair), Xero (audit & risk committee chair) and Z Energy (will stop on completion of the Ampol takeover).

Dr Strange is currently additionally chair of Auckland International Airport and a director of Mercury NZ. He was recently awarded Chairperson of the Year on the Deloitte Top 200 Awards.

Chorus additionally announces today that its CFO David Collins has resigned and plans to leave Chorus and return to Australia later within the year. Mr Collins will be working to make sure a smooth handover to his successor as soon as an appointment is made within the approaching months.

Chorus CEO JB Rousselot acknowledged Mr Collins’ significant contribution to Chorus.

“David’s expertise in regulated infrastructure was instrumental in Chorus finalising the regulatory outcomes we achieved in 2021. He will leave having performed a big half in setting Chorus up for success within the brand new regulatory environment. We want David well in his subsequent endeavours and acknowledge his desire to be nearer to his wider household in Australia,” Mr Rousselot said.
